In the fourth match of the group, the trophy expected team Australia defeated the weka team Kenya and rose in the third place of the group getting 7 points. New Zealand is placed to the top of the group getting 8 points. On the other hand, Sri Lanka got 7 points, but they have placed 2nd place over Australia due to their run rate. Pakistan is in the fourth position of the group. They have got 6 points in total. Yesterday, in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Australia defeated the non test playing team by 60 runs. After winning the toss, the captain of Australia choose batting first, and as a result, Australia gathered 324 runs in their score due to the batting of Michael Clark (93 runs) and Haddin (65 runs). In order to face that huge score, Kenya was able to gather 264 runs from 6 wickets playing the full 50 overs depending on the performance of CO Obuya (98 runs) and Mishra (72 runs). The Australian pacer S. Tait got 2 wickets. Although Kenya was defeated in that match, but the result is positive for this weak team. It is really a tough subject for them to play the total 50 overs against the team like Australia. But CO Obuya can be disappointed of not getting the century only for 2 runs. It could be the first century of his career. In spite of this, his excellent innings has reached his team to a respectable position.
In the start of batting, two openers of Australia Watson and Haddin presented Australia a weak partnership of 38 runs. Australian opener Watson was out scoring only 21 runs. But the smile of Kenya was not permanent due to the batting of Ricky Ponting. He started to proceed forward with another opener Haddin. After scoring 65 runs Haddin was out and then a little storm was flown over the Australian batting line up. In the 14 run difference, Australia lost two wickets of Ponting (36 runs) and White (2 runs). But in the fifth wicket, Clark and Hussey helped to build up a strong base for the team. These two batsmen started to play carefully and the run was increasing very fast. After 143 runs injury-returned Hussey was out in 54 runs. He played 43 runs to make this innings. But Michael Clark played very carefully. He played well with Smith. But he had a bad luck in that match. He missed his century only for 7 runs. After that Johnson came to play. The two batsmen Smith and Johnson left the field remaining undefeated. Smith scored 17 runs and Johnson 12 runs. So Australia gathered total 324 runs from 6 wickets. Kenyan pacer Odhiambo got 3 wickets for 57 runs.
In order to chase the 324 runs, the start of Kenya was not too good. After gathering 46 runs in the scoreboard, Kenya went to the back foot losing 3 wickets. Brett Lee and S Tait attacked the Kenyan batting line up. But in the fourth wicket partnership, Kenya returned the match and started to play well over the bowlers of Australia. The Australian bowlers did not expect such a batting storm from Kenyan batsmen. The bowling line up of Australia became helpless to these two batsmen. They performed total 115 runs. When Mishra became out in the 72 runs, then all the fans and players welcomed him. It was the career best innings of him against Australia. CO Obuya was in pressure after the wicket of Mishra. But the new coming batsman Odoyo started to play in good understanding with him. For their responsible batting, Kenya was able to stand up a respectable scored. Although Odoyo was out in 35 runs, the Australian bowlers were unable to take the wicket of CO Obuya. In the last over, Obuya needed only 4 runs to make century, but he was unable to perform so in the bowling of S Tait. He scored 98 runs playing 129 balls where there were 9 boundaries and 3 over-boundaries.
