New Zealand vice-captain Ross Taylor has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week after he enjoyed an excellent week at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Taylor, who has been leading his side after Daniel Vettori suffered a knee injury against Pakistan - the game in which Taylor smacked 131 not out in 124 balls to help the Black Caps take an impressive 110-run win.
His innings included eight fours and seven sixes to haul his side up to 302 for seven, hammering the Pakistan bowlers during the batting Power Play.
With Vettori picking up his injury early on in Pakistan's innings, Taylor led the side in the field as they closed out the game by dismissing Pakistan for 192.
He continued his fine form, leading from the front when New Zealand took on Canada in their next game.
Following Brendon McCullum's century at the top of the order, Taylor blasted 74 in just 44 balls, hitting six sixes and five fours as New Zealand racked up 358 for six to put the game beyond Canada.
Canada were eventually restricted to 261 for nine as New Zealand took a comprehensive 97-run win.
Other contenders for the weekly award included Tanmay Mishra, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Devon Smith, Sachin Tendulkar, Dale Steyn and McCullum.
